5 Ways You Can Learn English In A Group

I’m sure that you have seen our new website by now. Everything looks amazing, and we know it’s a great place to learn English online! To read more about What’s New at Intrepid English, and how to navigate the website, make sure you read Lorraine’s blog post.

This blog post is all about groups and the Group Classes that we offer as part of your Intrepid English membership.

In today’s blog post, read about five ways you can improve your English through learning English in a group!

What are Groups?

In the Intrepid English Community, Groups are a place for you to hang out with other English learners. Each group has a specific theme – there’s Science & Technology, Grammar Club, Book Club and General Conversation. Information about how to book a seat in one of these classes can be found on the Groups page.

Within each Group, you can learn English with other students, practise with one other and ask questions. The Intrepid English Teachers and fellow English students will be delighted to meet you!

Free Book Club!

Due to popular demand, our Book Club Group Class is free and open to everyone for the whole of 2022! That’s right, you don’t need to be an Intrepid English member to join. You can join our Book Club every week for a taster of what an Intrepid English class is like, and to practise your English in a fun and relaxed environment with fellow book worms! Each month we chose a different book which is available in the public domain. This month’s book choice is The Picture of Dorian Gray. Book a seat right here.

So how can I learn English in a group?

Groups can help you learn English in a variety of ways but here are five great ones!

  1. Ask questions. If you want to check spellings or tenses, or ask what the best way to say something is, then group group classes are the place to ask these questions.
  2. Learn from other students. This is a great place for practising your English by speaking to other students. There will also be at least one teacher in every Group, so you can ask them questions and get to know them.
  3. Learn from mistakes. Here at Intrepid English you will receive a feedback form after each lesson. This includes mistakes with corrections that occurred during the class. Mistakes can also be discussed in class and you’ll learn what to avoid next time.
  4. Practice your speaking. The group classes are a fantastic way to practice your speaking skills and learn what sounds natural. In addition, you will strengthen your ability to have conversations.
  5. Talk about your passions. All of our English classes give you the opportunity to explore your passions. So you will not only be practising your speaking and learning language skills along the way, you’ll also have the opportunity to talk about your passions – whether it be books, grammar, technology, science or something else entirely, we want to hear about it!

Intrepid English members can check out the Groups page, where you can find out the times of each Group Class and book your seat!

Which Groups should I join?

You’re welcome to join more than one Group if you like! You have a choice between Science & Technology, Grammar Club, Book Club and General Conversation. So it’s completely your choice. However, our advice is to choose a Group or Groups that interests you!

We’d love to hear from you, so please comment below to tell us what you think of the Groups or to tell us which Groups you have joined.

Interview with Alyssa Ordu

Hello, and welcome to the Intrepid English podcast. My name is Lorraine, and today, I have a conversation for you. My friend Alyssa is a Diversity and Inclusion Consultant in London. And when I told Alyssa that we were creating a diversity and inclusion course, in the intrepid English Academy, we had a lovely conversation about why diversity and inclusion are so important. I asked her to join me on this podcast as an expert in this field, to break down these big topics so that our English learners and the listeners of this podcast can understand a little bit about what diversity and inclusion are, why they’re so important, and give you a little bit of language that you can use to increase your awareness and broaden your horizons in these essential areas.
